4 by use can be divided into: drive motor and control motor.

Adjustable speed motor can be divided into constant speed motor, a stepless constant speed motor, variable speed motor and stepless variable speed motor and with the exception of, also can be divided into electromagnetic adjustable speed motor, DC motor speed regulation, PWM inverter fed motor and switched reluctance motor.
The rotor speed of the induction motor is always slightly lower than that of the rotating magnetic field.
The rotor speed of the synchronous motor is not independent of the load size, but is always maintained as a synchronous speed.
